THE SOURCE OF LIFE

Water of Life I | 生命之水-1 explores water not only as a physical substance, but also as a source of life, movement and spiritual energy.

Rather than depicting a recognisable landscape, the work develops through layered colour, sweeping gestures and heavily textured surfaces. A luminous current of white, gold and pale blue descends through the composition, moving between darker areas and gathering around a vivid blue form near the lower centre.

The work explores both visible and invisible energy. Visible energy appears through the movement of colour, the physical texture of the surface and the sense of water or light flowing through space. Invisible energy is suggested through vitality, transformation, inner perception and the forces that connect life with the natural world.

The contrast between darkness and illumination gives the work a sense of emergence. Light and water appear to move from an unknown source, entering the material world and awakening the surrounding forms. The image can therefore be experienced simultaneously as flowing water, living energy and a moment of creation.

The strongly textured surface allows colour to behave like matter. Golden passages suggest warmth and generative energy, while blue introduces water, depth and renewal. Together, these elements create a visual field in which physical form and spiritual sensation remain in continuous movement.

Water of Life I became the starting point for the later work Water of Life II — Westward Journey. While the first work approaches water as an elemental and inner force, the second carries this life-giving current into a cultural and geographical journey across borders.

Water of Life I was presented digitally in Las Vegas, USA, in 2025 through Plogix Gallery.
