Time Travelling

Flow of Light Series
Oil on canvas · 50 × 78 cm · 2020

Time Travelling is an oil painting from Jingmin Ren’s Flow of Light series. Created intuitively and spontaneously, the work explores weightlessness, starlight and the movement between physical reality and imagined cosmic space.

My body is light as a feather.
I feel unity and joy.
I travel through starlight,
exploring unfamiliar landscapes—
clear and distinct,
real and visible.
I linger in this beautiful wonderland
and almost forget the way home.

The painting evokes a journey through a luminous and mysterious realm, where light, colour and imagined forms seem to move beyond ordinary time and space. Reflecting what Ren sees, thinks and feels, Time Travelling invites viewers to enter a magical and transcendent visual world and experience their own sense of wonder, unity and freedom.

The Flow of Light series has been presented in multiple exhibitions and public contexts in Sydney, including at the Chinese Cultural Centre in 2021, and at Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre in 2023 and 2025. Selected works from the series were also featured in digital presentations in Times Square, New York, and London in 2024, presented by Plogix Gallery.
