Following the Flow of Light

Dreamland is an oil painting from Jingmin Ren’s Flow of Light Series, a body of work exploring the meeting point between physical experience, spiritual perception and the unseen movement of energy.

Created through an intuitive process of colour, gesture and energetic flow, the painting opens into an imagined space beyond ordinary perception. Light moves through the composition as both a visual presence and a guide, carrying the viewer from the visible world towards a more mysterious inner realm.

White light hanging from my eyebrows
A rainbow twinkling between my closed eyelashes
Follow the flow
Go through the light
Presenting without deliberation
No complicated interpretation required
Towards the fountain
Pure and bright

These poetic fragments express the inner vision from which Dreamland emerged. Rather than describing a fixed place or narrative, the painting evokes a journey through light, colour and consciousness—a passage towards openness, clarity and wonder.

The work invites viewers to move beyond literal interpretation and enter the painting through feeling and imagination. In this dreamlike space, the physical and spiritual worlds appear to flow into one another, revealing a sense of connection between the individual, the Earth and the wider universe.

Dreamland was presented at the Sharing the Same Moon Art Exhibition in Sydney.
