Cloud Series No. 3 belongs to Jingmin Ren’s Cloud Series, developed through nearly three years of observing and photographing Sydney’s sunrises, clouds and changing skies.
Through this sustained daily practice, Ren became increasingly attentive to the movement of light across clouds and the way colour, atmosphere and weather continually transform the visible world. These observations became the foundation for paintings that bring together natural experience, memory and spiritual perception.
In Cloud Series No. 3, vibrant colour and sweeping forms convey the movement of clouds transformed by morning light. Moving between observation and abstraction, the painting captures a fleeting atmospheric moment while evoking energy, wonder and a sense of inner renewal.
The Cloud Series developed alongside Ren’s Sydney Morning Series, which received the International Outstanding Female Artist Award at the Third International Painting Festival of Hawaii in 2017. Together, the two series form an extended meditation on light, creation, spiritual energy and humanity’s relationship with nature.
