Initially created during Jingmin Ren’s artist residency at Bondi Pavilion and later completed in her studio, with support from Waverley Council’s Bondi Pavilion Local Creative Collaborations Program. The work was subsequently exhibited in Las Vegas through Plogix Gallery.
Bondi Pavilion – Treasure presents Bondi Pavilion as a meeting point between community, nature, cultural memory and spiritual energy.
Set between land and ocean, the Pavilion is surrounded by sunlight, waves, vegetation, marine life and human activity. Flowing lines of light and energy move across the landscape, connecting people, architecture and the natural environment.
The work reflects the Pavilion as a living place of encounter—where different cultures, generations and communities come together. It also considers the relationship between material life and inner experience: amid abundance and activity, spiritual awareness can offer balance, depth and connection.
Through this interconnected environment, the painting explores how a public place can hold both visible activity and less tangible traces of memory, belonging and shared experience.
