AUSPICIOUS CLOUDS

Flow of Light Series
Oil on hexagonal canvas · 60 × 60 cm

Auspicious Clouds was inspired by an encounter with the changing sky above Bronte Beach, Sydney. While walking beside the coast, Jingmin Ren observed cloud formations that evoked imagery associated with Buddhist gatherings and the traditional symbolism of auspicious clouds.

The experience recalled the Buddhist Incense Praise, in which fragrance spreads throughout the Dharma Realm and auspicious clouds appear. Rather than illustrating the text literally, the work reflects Ren’s intuitive response to a moment when light, clouds, nature and spiritual perception seemed to converge.

Through luminous colour and shifting forms, Auspicious Clouds explores the sense of wonder that can arise through observing the natural world — a recurring element in Ren’s exploration of light, spiritual energy and perception.
